Title: Interrogation at one Canton Local Court
DocumentNature: Photolithograph
Repository: Biblioteca Reale di Torino
Color: Black and white
Caption: Un interrogatoire en police correctionnelle , à Canton.
Particulars: This is one of the drawings made by Félix Ragamey during his trip with the famous Orientalist Emile Guimet, who wrote articles for the Illustration.
The term "Police correctionnelle" probably alludes to the casualty o this cross-examination in a small room, and not in the main hall, of the local tribunal. The magistrate is sitting at is desk, and the backing man at his left might be his legal adviser. The facing tall man with a stern expression who holds a stick is likely to be the runner who beat with the banzi.
Topic: Judiciary
Description: (...)
