Nous reproduisons ici (Cf.T. II, fig.54, 56) deux photographies d’un criminel qu’on vient de lier au poteau pour lui couper les bras et les jambes et pour lui arracher la peau de la poitrine. Ses cheveux qui sont déjà hérissés quand on le lie le sont bien plus quand le supplice a commencé. ( fig.121 et 122).
Le hérissement persiste pendant le supplice jusque au moment où la sueur de l’agonie vient feutrer les cheveux (cf. t.II, p.283, s.q.)

Description: Here are presented again (Cf.T. II, fig.54, 56) two photographs of a criminal bound to the post to have his arms and legs cut off, and the skin of his chest flayed. His hair, which was already ruffled when he was bound, is all the more so once the torment has started (fig.121 and 122).(fig.121 and 122). The ruffling persists all long the ordeal, up to the moment when the sweat of agony comes to felt the hair (cf t.II, p.283, s.q.)
