Particulars: This photograph and four others on the same gloomy theme (executions by lingchi; teared body of a terrorist bomber, etc.) were part of a set, also comprising sceneries (Ming graveyards, notably), kept by the famous sinologist De Chavannes. It is actually kept at the phototeca of the Ecole Française d'Extreme Orient.
