Topic: Lingchi 凌遲
Description: This is the photograph of a lingchi performed in Canton, on the market place of Matou, ca. 1890. The photo has been taken after the execution, and secretly, with a hiden camera. This is likely to be the very first photographic rendering of lingchi, and Norman was the first to publish it in Europe (it had appeared in 1892 in a Hong kong journal).
