Text_Interest: Before the revolution in Siam occuring in 1688, this document (despite the poor attention really given to the country Chaumont is visiting and the poor understanding of siamese society) nevertheless gives interresting elements such as bouddhist influence upon legal system.
Comment: Back to France in 1686, the chevalier de Chaumont’s ambassy appears to be disappointing. King Naraï didn’t become christian and the treaties signed in Siam are weak and of poor interest. Before his withdrawing from political scene, Chaumont will quickly and badly write his « Relation ».
