Title: Photos de la famille Métifiot
DocumentNature: Photograph
Topic: Execution ground and around
Description: Métifiot was a veterinary for horses at the garrison of Tien-tsin, which he left for France in late 1905. The photographs he carried with him are those of the very first generation, unusually clear compared to later reproductions. They belong to the same set as the 12 postcards series "Supplices chinois", published in Tien-tsin by Liou-seu, and partly used by Matignon and Carpeaux for their book. Some are completely original, like the "Marsouins" photographed in Caishikou — that can be found also in "Lemasle" and Perratone sets.
