Text_Interest: These are all the articles —Statutes and sub-statutes— in the Ming and Qing codes providing for dismemberment penalty. In the Statutes, paragraphs unrelated to lingchi sentence are omitted, but signaled by their number (for instance: 2: (...))
Comment: The original text is extracted from Xue Yunsheng's Duli cunyi as digitalized by Wallace Johnson; the English and French translation are inspired from Jiang Yonglin, Boulais and Philastre, respectively. We, Luca Gabbiani and Jerome Bourgon, freely amended the translation when we deemed it necessary. In case, of discrepancy between Ming and Qing codes, as frequently happens due to interlinear commentary, we chose the Qing version.
